Kodak Signet 40
(1956-1959) The Kodak Signet 40 is a 35mm rangefinder camera produced from 1956 to 1959. It features a Kodak Ektanon 46mm f/3.5 lens, a Kodak Synchro 400 shutter with speeds from 1/5 to 1/400 sec, and a coupled rangefinder system. Its body is primarily Bakelite with metallic elements, and it uses a manual film advance lever. The camera includes a depth of field scale and has flash sync for both flashbulbs and electronic flashes. The Signet 40 is built sturdily and is considered more durable than later models. Notably, the lens contains thorium oxide, making it mildly radioactive.
